If you are ever in trouble w/ the law in California, you could always lawyer up with Ron Miller. He’s a criminal defense attorney by day, but doubles as porn star Don Hollywood in the evenings.

Sarah Michelle Gellar gets to be a porn star in Southland Tales – a film by Richard Kelly (of Donnie Darko fame). In addition to Gellar, the film will also star The Rock as an action star with amnesia and Seann William Scott. Here’s a bit more about the film:

Kelly described the film in the press release as a “strange hybrid of the sensibilities of Andy Warhol and Philip K. Dick” set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Rock’s techno-pop poster boy Moby will provide the score for the film. And if you thought that’s all Kelly had up his sleeve, boy oh boy were you mistaken. According to the release, “In addition to the feature film, an expanded version of SOUTHLAND TALES will be presented as a nine-part interactive experience with the prequel saga to be published as six separate 100 page graphic novels, each written by Kelly.

Kelly also plans to have a very elaborate website for the film (most of which is not yet functional).

A California prison rule that bars inmates from having full frontal porn in their posession was upheld by the 4th District Court. I’ve got no sympathy for inmates, so keeping them from having good porn is just fine with me; but I do get a kick out of the reasoning behind the rule:

The department defended the rule as a legitimate measure to protect female correctional officers against harassment, to steer clear of having sexually explicit materials become items of barter, and to avoid “anatomical comparisons [that] could lead to fights between inmates.”

So part of the reason to deny inmates porn is that we don’t want them comparing dick sizes? Better get rid of the urinals then too, or the group showers.

If there were any doubts as to how a place like Saudi Arabia would handle porn, their new law on cell phone porn makes it perfectly clear.

Liz Hurley is going to launch her own line of beachwear. This is one of the few times that the designer is just as hot as the models.

The agent for Natel King, the porn actress who was stabbed to death in 2004 by a photographer, is trying to get the proceeds from Natel’s only porn film to be donated to the Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. The problem is that the Hospital may not accept the money because of ethical concerns.

Sirard said King, whose stage name was Taylor Sumers, had helped raise money for the hospital before she was murdered. He described her as a “porn star with principles” who had refused to perform sexual acts with others on screen until this film.

At a speech at NYU, a student asked Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia if he sodomized his wife. Scalia dodged the question by saying it was unworthy of an answer.

That then begs the question that if that question is unworthy of an answer, why do we have laws in this country that make sodomy illegal. I’d love to see what would happen if somebody charged with sodomy gave Scalia’s answer to a prosecutor in court. Somehow I don’t think it’d be accepted.
