The liberal politicians in Australia want to have internet porn blocked by default at the ISP level, forcing those that want an unfiltered web to ‘opt-in’.

“The reality is … only about a third of the parents put some sort of blocker in relation to the sites on their home computers, it’s too hard for most of them but if you did it at the level of the provider, probably very few people would opt in.”

The # opting-in would probably depend heavily on how easy it is to opt-in, and what kind of database their name goes into when they do it. I know Australia doesn’t have the same freedoms of speech that the US has, but this is just outrageous.
